New Numarine 27XP will feature next-generation super silent technology pack
- The new system is built around a fully integrated 48-volt DC architecture
- A 92.8 kWh LFP battery bank combined with 5.6 kW of solar panels enables silent, generator-free operation at anchor day and night
- While underway, PTO generators charge the batteries directly from the main engines
- The result: dramatically reduced generator hours, lower maintenance demands, and fume-free comfort both at anchor and underway
- The new 27XP explorer will be launched this spring
The new Numarine 27XP has yet to be launched, just a couple of months before completion she is already setting new standards in the industry.
Numarine, the innovative shipyard renowned for its high-performance explorer yachts, has unveiled a major technological upgrade for its 27XP explorer with the introduction of the Mk2 Super Silent Pack. The solution is developed in partnership with Sleipner and built around their Hybrid Power Center.
The new system represents a substantial advancement in both onboard comfort and operational economy, introducing a fully integrated 48-volt DC architecture designed for modern yacht living. By operating at a higher voltage than traditional 12- or 24-volt systems, it delivers greater power with smaller, more efficient cabling, reducing weight and energy losses. The result is quieter, more efficient operation, extended silent cruising, and reliable performance for all onboard systems, creating a smoother experience at sea.
At the heart of the package lies a 92.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery bank, forming the foundation for extended silent operation. Working in conjunction with Sleipner’s intelligent Hybrid Power Center, the system coordinates engine PTO-driven generation, 5.6 kW of solar panels, shore power and advanced load management into a single, seamless energy ecosystem. All available power sources are utilised to their maximum efficiency, with a central controller dynamically distributing energy, prioritising critical systems and automatically managing peak demand.
While underway, the battery bank is charged directly from the main engines via PTO generators, eliminating the need to run auxiliary generators during cruising. Energy production is therefore shifted to periods of navigation rather than leisure, enhancing the onboard experience. Charging capacity is 10 kW at idle RPM and reaches up to 50 kW while cruising, ensuring rapid and predictable replenishment.
At anchor, the experience is defined by silence. The combination of high-capacity batteries and solar input allows for many hours of generator-free operation during the day. Numarine’s dedicated Sleep Mode further reduces nighttime consumption, enabling a full night at anchor in complete silence, with air-conditioning and stabilisers running. High-demand systems such as stabilisers, thrusters and station-keeping functions operate efficiently within the 48V platform without continuous genset reliance, while improved onboard power quality supports sensitive electronics and contemporary yacht systems.
“The result is quiet, fume-free living at anchor and underway, dramatically reduced generator hours, extended service intervals and lower maintenance demands,” commented Patrik von Sydow, CEO of Numarine. “With the Mk2 Super Silent Pack and Sleipner’s Hybrid Power Center, the 27XP establishes a future-ready electrical foundation that combines technical sophistication with the refined, effortless comfort increasingly expected of today’s explorer yachts.”
“I would like to congratulate Numarine on a fantastic project. The 27XP sets a new benchmark for what I believe many owners will come to expect from future yachts in terms of comfort, efficiency and quiet operation,” says Marius Torjusen, Chief Commercial Officer of Sleipner. “It is also a clear testament to what can be achieved when yacht builders and technology partners work openly and collaboratively to push the boundaries of what is possible."
The 27XP combines the long-range capability and robust engineering expected of an explorer yacht with the spatial quality and lifestyle features of a far larger superyacht. Offering versatile accommodation, expansive outdoor areas and transoceanic range, she represents a natural yet substantial step forward within the XP series, delivering serious cruising credentials alongside refined, contemporary living. Powered by twin MAN 560 engines, the 27XP will have max speed of 13.5 knots and she will cruise at 10 knots and deliver a range of 2,200 nautical miles at eight knots.
